The Foundation also considers capacity-building grants that strengthen organizations to fulfill their missions more effectively or widely. Examples include:
- training for boards, staff or volunteers
- improvements in organizational management or finances
- enhanced networking, etc.
We do not consider requests for:
- projects that serve the ongoing functions of a particular institution
- support of individuals
- capital campaigns/endowments
- debt repayment
- buildings/major renovations
- scholarships
- community organizing/political lobbying
- retroactive funding
- general support of well established programs
- projects in which the benefits accrue in other countries.
Grant Profile
Most funding requests range between $20,000 & $50,000.
Review Criteria
The Foundation weighs the needs identified and the potential of the project to address those needs.
- It favors projects that are financially sustainable over time.
- It favors projects that are potentially replicable.
- It is more likely to fund projects that have financial support from more than one source.
The Foundation makes grants with the stipulation that the funding source remains anonymous.
